Bingo lobby

Background

Paf produces and hosts inhouse bingo games. The updated mobile first design for the bingo clients brought an interesting challenge. Players were used to playing the game in several browser tabs at once, this proved impractical on mobile devices both from a technical and a usability point of view. In order to bring back this functionality I came up with a new feature

First steps

I had previously toyed with the idea of scaling back as much as possible from the bingo games and only showing the minimum for playing a game. The idea was to add a panel in the client where players could buy tickets to the other games and follow the game at a simplified level. In order to minimize clutter the user was supposed to choose the number of tickets in the games and batch buy with a single buy button. A prototype was developed but never left the first stages.

During this time the tech stack was changed for the bingo games and new features was put on ice.

Implementation

The feature was finally picked up for implementation. During this time the scope grew and the final version was much more fleshed out than the early prototypes. With the addition of auto buy the final version covers all the base features in a bingo game.
